Why You, Yes You, Should Go Through Re:generation

by Joey Swenson on April 29, 2021

Hi, my name is Joey and I have a new life in Christ.
I’m finding freedom from fear of failing and disappointing people,
people pleasing, and ultimately my pride and my ego.

Is re:gen for you?

“Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” Jesus answered, “is this: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” Mark 12:29-31

As a follower of Jesus, a good question I should constantly ask myself is this: “Are there any areas in my life that are hindering me from loving God and loving others?”

If we are honest with ourselves, it’s probably not that hard to think of a few areas that impede us from walking in obedience to what Jesus said were the greatest commandments.

For me, my lack of empathy or straight up selfishness gets in the way of treating people the way I would want to be treated. My pride and my ego often reveal that I trust in myself rather than trusting God. On other occasions, I have chosen to harbor bitterness and resentment towards people rather than choosing to forgive those who have harmed me. And throughout my life I have also found myself choosing destructive behaviors to cope or self-protect.

So, what hinders you from loving God and loving people? Is it your anger or your constant need to be in control? Maybe its your propensity to turn to something other than God (alcohol, overspending, eating, etc…) to numb the pain from your insecurities. Or maybe you have secrets from your past you promised to take to the grave because of the shame it brings?

Whatever it is, we all have areas in our life that need real BREAKTHROUGH.

Jesus offers us so much hope in Matthew 11:28-30, Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

To put it simply, re:generation is a Discipleship program that uses the 12 Steps of recovery to help you experience breakthrough from the things that hinder you from loving God and loving people. re:gen is an authentic community of people devoted to running after Jesus, the only one that can offer us “rest for our souls.”

So, is re:generation for you if you’re battling addictions?
Yes, absolutely! Many of our participants are finding freedom from, drug abuse, alcoholism, pornography, and other things.

But is re:generation for you if you’ve never struggled with deep addictions?
Yes, Most definitely! Many of us who have gone through re:gen are finding freedom from struggles like people pleasing, anger, unforgiveness, co-dependency, etc…  Click on this link to see a list of over 100 struggles people come to re:gen for.

So, is re:gen for you?
I'll answer this question by asking another question. Where do you want to see breakthrough in your life?

As flawed humans, we all have things that hinder us from loving God and loving people. This means, that you, yes you, should go through re:gen.

What people are saying after going through re:generation:

  • “At the end of the evening…I walked up to one of the leaders and said, “I think this is what God meant by church”.

  • “regen doesn’t make you a sinless person. Regen equips you with the tools to recognize sin and bring it into the light.”

  • “I realized it wasn’t just about changing my behavior, but it was about surrendering my whole life to Christ.”

  • “I was done with church, but God wasn’t done with me.”

  • “I thought I knew it all, had it all together. But God looks at the heart. I spent too much time chasing idols that over promised and under delivered. By his grace, Now I know its not about me. Its about Jesus.”

  • “regen helped me to be vulnerable. And vulnerability frees you”

  • “I thought my problems would go away once the booze was gone but I still had character defects. ReGen taught me self- awareness in my thought life. I can change the way I feel by changing the way I think.”

  • “if abortion is a part of your story, this is a safe place. God loves you and we love you. Healing can only be found in Christ. Tell someone tonight. You don’t have to carry that burden alone.”

  • “God doesn’t love some future version of me when I get my life under control. He loves me as I am right now in my mess.”

  • “not only was I accepted despite my junk, but it was refreshing to know that I could be completely honest and myself.”
