Missions Update: Turkey Drive Preview

October 14, 2026

What if one of your family's most meaningful holiday memories began with a turkey, a Thanksgiving box, and a willingness to serve?

This Thanksgiving, we invite you to join our Turkey Drive and help bring hope to our neighbors in Greenspoint. Together with Eyes on Me and our own church plant in Greenspoint, we have an opportunity to care for families, build relationships, and share the love of Jesus in our community and city.

Our church plant is a Hispanic church community serving families in Greenspoint, one of Houston's most diverse and underserved communities.

Why Greenspoint?

  • 40,000+ residents call Greenspoint home.
  • 32% of households live below the poverty line.
  • 2,700+ deportation orders are issued every year through Greenspoint Park Immigration Court.
  • 57% of children live in poverty.
  • 3,000+ low-income children (0-3) live in high-need childcare areas.
  • 72% of residents are Hispanic or Latino.

Behind every number is a family— a parent trying to provide, a child who needs to be seen, and a neighbor who deserves hope.

We believe God has placed us in Greenspoint for a purpose: to love our neighbors, care for families, build relationships, and bring the hope of Jesus into our community. This is a place God loves and a community worth investing in, where God is already at work.

It begins with generosity. As we collect turkeys and food items, each donation becomes part of a Thanksgiving meal for a local family. Then, families and friends will gather to pack more than 1,000 boxes of Thanksgiving dinners. Picture the room: people working side by side, children helping their parents, friends filling boxes, and a shared sense of purpose connecting every table.

Serving together gives our families a beautiful way to practice gratitude. We can talk with our children about God's goodness while helping them discover the joy of caring for someone else. We can invite friends into something meaningful. We can make space in a busy holiday season to notice our neighbors and respond with love.

The opportunity continues beyond packing day. More than 200 volunteers will serve together at apartment complexes throughout the Greenspoint area, distributing Thanksgiving boxes and creating opportunities for connection through games, entertainment, conversation, and prayer.

Every box is an invitation to show someone they are seen and valued. Every friendly conversation offers a chance to listen. Every prayer is an opportunity to bring a person's needs before a loving God. As we spend time with our Greenspoint neighbors, we want to honor their stories, celebrate their community, and share the hope we have found in Jesus.

Our heart is to share the story of God's love and the salvation He offers through Jesus Christ. We pray that these moments of connection will open doors for meaningful conversations and lasting relationships, strengthened by our partners and our church plant in the neighborhood.

As Turkey Drive approaches, our Evangelism team wants to come alongside you to equip and encourage you to have meaningful spiritual conversations with the people God places in your path. If sharing your faith feels unfamiliar or intimidating, join us for Evangelism Training. You can learn how to tell your story, explain the good news of Jesus, and begin conversations with kindness and confidence. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and grow. Together, we can become better listeners and more prepared to share the hope within us.

You don't have to be a "natural evangelist" or have all the answers. We'll give you simple, practical tools to help you move a conversation from the everyday to the spiritual and create opportunities to share the hope of Jesus. Ultimately, the outcome belongs to God. Our role is simply to be faithful, listen well, love people, and depend on the Holy Spirit to guide us.

Starting October 14, we'll gather on the second Wednesday of every month for Evangelism Training. Whether you're just curious about evangelism, have never shared your faith before, or consider yourself a natural evangelist, there's a place for you! We're all learning together, growing together, and depending on His Spirit as we seek to bring hope to our city.

Come join us at our next training on November 11 and let's learn how to have spiritual conversations, share the hope of Jesus, and be ready for the opportunities God puts in front of us.

There is a place for you at Turkey Drive. Donate a turkey or food items. Gather your family, friends, or community group to pack boxes. Serve at an apartment complex. Participate in evangelism training. Pray for the families we will meet and for every volunteer preparing to serve. Volunteer opportunities open November 1.

Imagine what God can do when we all lock arms: families serving families, churches working together, and neighbors experiencing His love through both our words and actions.

This holiday season let's give back to our community and city with grateful hearts. Let's bring hope to Thanksgiving tables across Greenspoint. And let's pursue the vision of becoming a city of God, together— one family, one relationship, and one act of love at a time.
