You’re engaged! Congratulations, and welcome to one of the most exciting times in your life. You’re planning, preparing and anticipating your future with your spouse. The engagement period can be a wonderful time to learn about some tools that will benefit your marriage. It is important to understand the Biblical truth of marriage, and get started on the right foot as you begin this long and amazing journey.
God gives us a wonderful illustration of marriage – we, the church, are the bride of Christ and Jesus is the bridegroom. This is such a beautiful image of the way marriage is designed to be, as well as a wonderful picture of our love relationship with our God. “The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.” John 3:29
As you are planning your wedding, you may find that you are learning all sorts of new things about your future spouse. Common themes a newly engaged couple will confront are differences in family backgrounds, communication styles, relationship issues, financial expectations and sexual intimacy. Pre-marital counseling can help give you the tools to prepare for your future, and can help you learn techniques that promote a happy, healthy marriage. Start your marriage off right: fully depend on God to be the source of love and guidance for your relationship, and glean wisdom from others.
If you are getting married, we would love to walk this journey with you and partner with you in pre-marital counseling.
We currently offer a couple of resources to help you find a Marriage Prep class that's right for you.
