Giving with Giving Tree

by Amy Creel on November 02, 2020

Welcome to Edge Press! We are excited to launch our brand new WoodsEdge blog with an article to ring in the holiday season. One way our church celebrates the birth of Jesus is by tangibly sharing his love with those around us in significant ways. With the help of our generous church body, we are able to give freely to various ministry partners that immediately impact the lives of people in our community.

Dates for 2020 Giving Tree

Sundays, November 1-8: Pick up a Giving Tree Ornament
November 1 to 15: Drop off unwrapped gifts before or after Sunday services,
or weekdays at the Ministry Teams Building donation bins.

As you prepare your hearts to give this season, take a moment to look at our 2020 participating ministry partners and recipients. Each of these partners do a remarkable job year-round, ministering to men, women, and children at risk in the greater Houston area.

  • Redeemed Ministries: Serves and aides in rehabilitation of women who have been rescued from sex-trafficking.
  • Burress Street: Ministers to women who are living with AIDS in a care facility.
  • 7More: Helps men and women who are coming out of incarceration, as well as children whose fathers were recently incarcerated.
  • Younglives: Serves teenage moms and their children.
  • Lighthouse Community Outreach: Pours into children of lower income homes.
  • Into Abba’s Arms: Cares for orphans in Kenya.
  • Woodsedge Families: These gifts will bless children in need within our church family.

This year marks the fifth consecutive year in which WoodsEdge has brought hope to others through Giving Tree. Each year, our Outside the Walls team utilizes benevolent volunteers to facilitate various aspects of the ministry, including intake, sorting, and distribution. If you or someone you know is interested in helping, please contact Linsey Kunes, Director of Women and Children at Risk.

Church family, due to Covid-19, the need is greater than ever as a result of job loss and families who have growing medical bills. If you are able, we ask that you please pray about being abundantly generous this year. Giving Tree is a great way to give back individually, as a family, with your children, or collaborating as a Journey Group.

Out of a need for abundant caution due to Covid-19, there are specific gifts that can be purchased and donated directly from our Amazon Charity Site in partnership with Love Fosters Hope. You will also find age appropriate Bibles that make a great addition to your gift donations. Shop our Wish List here.

If you would prefer to donate monetarily, we welcome you to give using Push Pay at WoodsEdge.org/give. Our Outside the Walls team will use these funds to purchase remaining gift needs. When making a donation, please designate ‘Giving Tree.’

Our Father does big, God-sized things through tangible expressions of his love. We excitedly await to see how Giving Tree impacts hearts and lives around us. Brothers and sisters, please join us in prayer over each and every recipient, that they would feel truly cared for and know the love of Jesus personally.

For more information on the Giving Tree, visit woodsedge.org/givingtree.

If you have personally been affected by Giving Tree,
we would love to hear your story. Please submit it here.
